A good time had by all, with renewing hope of better times ahead for a peaceful society!

The Nation

Over 500 cities nationwide joined hundreds of thousands of people around the globe in a day of action on the third anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. "Read more..." for a sampling of reports from some of the protests in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Featured so far is the vigil locally in Hayward, the rallies in Stevens Point, Duluth and Minneapolis, along with an overview of events across the nation.

HAYWARD, WI REPORT:

My heart is soaring. What a fine community! We had 25 people at the vigil. Some were at their first ever vigil; some joined us who had vigiled faithfully before the war; some drove long distances, from Thorpe, from Webster, from Duluth. We are grateful. Pat, a CPTer, honored Tom Fox by standing silently as a hostage with a bag over his head and ropes around him. Kay didn't want the vigil to end. "It feels so good to stand for peace." Jeremy and Jenn have infused our sign collection with bright, new wonderful signs. Great to see Hilary and Doug again who have been missing our vigils as they can't make the mid-week ones.

Just as important was our reception from passersby. Pete remarked, "It's much more friendly than I thought it would be." Overwhelming positive response, even from young men in pick-up trucks! It's clear the heart of the nation is beginning to embrace the message of peace.

Thanks to all of you who came to stand for peace today. Thanks to all the rest of you whose support we feel and appreciate.

In peace, Carol Hannah
