An introduction to the world of international humanitarian and development voluntary work. There are over 180  projects worldwide, from two weeks to two years or more. Spend either a holiday or a longer period with a difference - for students, professionals, retirees and those with and without work experience. WV also offers information on finding thousands of other opportunities on the Internet. Peace Action, the merger of SANE and The Freeze, has effectively mobilized for peace and disarmament for over fifty years. It is the nation's largest grassroots peace group with 100,000 members who have been, and continue to be at the forefront of the international movement for peace. They have worked for an environment where all are free from violence and war as they hold to the belief that war is not a suitable response to conflict.
Universal Giving Popular Bookmark  Nonviolent Peaceforce Popular Bookmark
UG is a social entrepreneurship non-profit dedicated to making giving and volunteering a natural part of everyday life. Their web-based service connects donors and volunteers with exceptional organizations all over the world. They have the only international service that promotes both giving and volunteering, and their service is free to individuals and NGOs. They do not take a cut on donations and are committed to maximizing a donor's incentive to get involved and directly channel resources to where they are needed most. 100% of all donations given through the site go directly to the NGO or project of choice. The mission of the Nonviolent Peaceforce is to build a trained, international civilian nonviolent peace force. The Nonviolent Peaceforce will be sent to conflict areas to prevent death and destruction and protect human rights, thus creating the space for local groups to struggle nonviolently, enter into dialogue, and seek peaceful resolution.
Transform Columbus Day International Court of Justice (World Court), Peace Palace Popular Bookmark

TCDA is an international coalition of over eighty social justice organizations who are committed to challenging traditional ethnocentric views of Columbus as pioneer and sole discoverer of the Americas, and that he, as well as colonial powers, should be celebrated for 512 years of invasion, cruelty, oppression, and cultural imperialism.

TCDA calls for the unequivocal abolition of the Columbus Day holiday on a local, state and national level. The celebration of Columbus is the veneration of colonialism, conquest, and genocide. As people of conscience, we must move our society closer to the democratic values of equality for all, through historical accuracy, justice in the judicial and political processes of the country, and respect for diverse peoples and cultures. To this end, TCDA actively works towards the repeal of the Columbus Day holiday throughout the United States, and the accurate historical portrayal of Christopher Columbus and his colonial relationship with native peoples.

The International Court of Justice is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. Its seat is at the Peace Palace in The Hague (Netherlands). It began work in 1946, when it replaced the Permanent Court of International Justice which had functioned in the Peace Palace since 1922. It operates under a Statute largely similar to that of its predecessor, which is an integral part of the Charter of the United Nations.

Its functions include the dual roles of settling in accordance with international law the legal disputes submitted to it by States, and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by duly authorized international organs and agencies.

Stop the War Coalition International Campaign for Tibet
The aim of the coalition is to stop the war currently declared by the United States and its allies against 'terrorism'.SWC believes that war simply adds to the numbers of innocent dead, causes untold suffering, political and economic instability on a global scale, increases racism and results in attacks on civil liberties and rights.

ICT has a 17-year record of achievement advancing the Tibetan cause - and the vision and leadership of the Dalai Lama - in the halls of Congress and in international forums. They hold the fundamental belief that there must be a political solution based on direct dialogue between the Dalai Lama and his representatives and the People's Republic of China. Just as leaders from virtually all the protracted struggles on this planet have met to talk about their differences, so too the Chinese leaders can meet with the Dalai Lama. Without a negotiated solution for Tibet, China will never legitimize its role there. Moreover, to ensure peace and stability in the region, Tibetans must feel that their rights as a people have been acknowledged and understood.

Refugees International Amnesty International

Refugees International generates lifesaving humanitarian assistance and protection for displaced people around the world and works to end the conditions that create displacement.

AI is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights. Their vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards. In pursuit of this vision, AI’s mission is to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights.
