| Iraq Moratorium 3rd Friday Vigils |
| Baghdad Report examines various aspects of life in Iraq resulting from the US-UK invasion and occupation. It looks at the military perspective, the situation Iraqi women now face, and the part played by NGO's in war-torn Iraq. |
|
The Iraq Moratorium project grew out of the frustration we share with so many Americans. Why does the war grind on when the people of this country have so clearly rejected it? Obviously voting didn’t do the job.
In addition to vigiling, there are many other ways to take a stand as an individual. Wear a black armband or ribbon on Moratorium Day. Call or write your elected officials that day or send a letter to the editor of the local paper. Don't buy gas.
Whatever you do, you’ll be doing it with millions of people, and whatever you do, fill out the easy to use form that is posted the Iraq Moratorium website to let your elected officials and the media know what you did.
On the 3rd Friday of each month, thousands of people nationwide stand up in their local communities to show their opposition to U.S. occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan. There are at least 40 Third Friday vigils in the State of Wisconsin alone. |

|
| Not in Our Name |
| When the possibility of far-reaching war crimes and crimes against humanity exists, people of conscience have a solemn responsibility to inquire into the nature and scope of these acts and to determine if they do in fact rise to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity. That is the mission of the International Commission of Inquiry on Crimes Against Humanity. |
|
We must dare to change the course of history. As George W. Bush is inaugurated for a second term, let it not be said that people in the United States silently acquiesced in the face of this shameful coronation of war, greed, and intolerance. He does not speak for us. He does not represent us. He does not act in our name. No election, whether fair or fraudulent, can legitimize criminal wars on foreign countries, torture, the wholesale violation of human rights, and the end of science and reason. |

WAND empowers women to act politically to reduce violence and militarism, and redirect excessive military resources toward unmet human and environmental needs. Through a People's Petition on Iraq, they have called on Congress to endorse 5 principles, including: The US will withdraw all permanent military bases from Iraq, bring troops home within months, hand over reconstruction tasks to the UN, and establish a peace envoy to engage the Iraqi opposition in dialogue.
