| Citizens for Responsible Energy (Stop ATC) |
| A Better Earth explores a new era of environmentalism. After some 40 years of a burgeoning environmental movement, what have we learned? Are things getting better or worse? Which strategies of the environmental movement have proven effective? Or, more to the point, which strategies have achieved the desired results? Should we, as environmentalists, be encouraged by the fact that the movement has become mainstream? Or should the very success, money, prestige and influence attained by major environmental groups give us pause? |

Citizens for Responsible Energy (CRE), is a non profit association of the many grass roots organizations and individual citizens in the state of Wisconsin that are questioning the efficacy of the American Transmission Company's proposed building of $3.4 billion in new transmission assets. The ATC is a FOR-PROFIT monopoly that has the exclusive use of public right-of-ways, which it uses to generate amazingly high profits. In so doing, it spoils our beautiful lands and communities and refuses to work honestly and openly with our communities to create reasonable and safe transmission of power. |

We are members of the most destructive culture ever to exist. Our assault on the natural world, on indigenous and other cultures, on women, on children, on all of us through the possibility of nuclear suicide and other means--all these are unprecedented in their magnitude and ferocity."
So began Derrik's first book, Listening to the Land. Why do we act as we do? What are sane and effective responses to outrageously destructive behavior? What will it take for us to stop the horrors that characterize our way of being? His work and life revolve around these questions.

| Earth Action Network |
CBD believes that the health and vigor of human societies and the integrity and wildness of the natural environment are closely linked. Beyond their extraordinary intrinsic value, animals and plants, in their distinctness and variety, offer irreplaceable emotional and physical benefits to our lives and play an integral part in culture. Their loss, which parallels the loss of diversity within and among human civilizations, impoverishes us beyond repair.
Combining conservation biology with litigation, policy advocacy, and an innovative strategic vision, the CBD is working to secure a future for animals and plants hovering on the brink of extinction, for the wilderness they need to survive, and by extension for the spiritual welfare of generations to come. |

When should we use the alternatives we have developed? After the next dirty coal plant or after the one after that? If we put off clean energy, we are putting off the health of our children, our economy and the future of our world. CVSEA provides information about the problem, and alternative energy solutions. |

EFP believes that: the quest for ecological restoration will create jobs in the industrial and service sectors; purchasing from local businesses consumes less shipping fuel, and boosts local economy by bringing tax and spending dollars into a given area; limited, ethical government comes from local involvement; because the quest for ecological restoration and prosperity brings our interdependence as human beings boldly to the surface, EFP will maintain a clear bias towards the middle classes, recognizing our nation has allowed this workhorse to lose economic ground. |
